ZAYN – “iT’s YoU” Music Video

What a f*cking great track. So subdued, smooth, with a lil’ groove. The video itself looks like a movie Vogue Magazine photo.

I’m one of those who gets really hyped on something and I want everything that has to do with whatever it is. Like, I want to preorder ZAYN’s album, buy concert tickets, and wear ZAYN panties right now.

Troye Sivan “Youth” Music Video

Troye reminds me of when I was a little gay boy growing up. Well,  the things that Troye portrays in his videos are things that EVERYONE can relate to. The video for “Youth” focuses on just that, Troye being himself in a youthful setting having fun, flirting, and dancing in purple light.

I remember, wait, what am I saying? Correction: Earlier today, I was dancing in the doorway to the restroom before I dropped a few nuggets in the toilet, pretending I was Troye in the “Youth” video before I even watched it. I am so influential.

“Youth” is my jam right now. It makes me so happy. I listen to it on a loop while I run on the treadmill, holding my chest down with my forearm.

Rihanna Feat. Drake “Work” Music Video

I like this unconventional way of presenting pop music. Beyonce with her surprise visual album and Rihanna with her surprise release and two videos for the lead single off of “ANTI,” “Work.”

While the videos are more vanity shots to give the song a visual, they work, work, work, work, work, work. The first video is a reggae inspired club scene, Rihanna always looking runway ready, Drake looking sharp. Cool.

In the second video all you can see are Rihanna’s nipples and Drake’s bulge.

Rihanna Feat. Drake “Work” Music Video To Premiere Monday

A teaser for the long awaited video for Rihanna’s “Work” is scheduled to premiere on Monday. Got a good lil’ vibe from the video. Won’t be anything stunning, but it’ll give a nice visual to the song.

Now that I think about it. The teaser reminds me of Beyonce’s “Baby Boy.” The part where she sings “in a dark, dark corner of a basement party.” I liked that video.

“Make Me Like You” Live on Jimmy Kimmel

The live performance of “Make Me Like You” was ight. It doesn’t have replay value for me. But the song is definitely stuck in my head. I can’t get enough of when she sings “Oh, God!” For some reason, the whole sound of that with the music get me like, YEAH!

Gwen Stefani “Make Me Like You”

Okay, Gwen. I see you. I see that you’re taking this solo comeback seriously now. After last years lukewarm “Baby Don’t Lie” and “Spark the Fire,” Gwen is taking us, her fans, seriously once again. I tried so hard to like “Baby Don’t Lie,” but it was a shame. I couldn’t even pretend to like it. It was just so whatever to me. “Spark the Fire” I liked for a week, if I remember correctly. My bf kept asking me to stop trying to make him like the song, so I obliged.

“Make Me Like You” follows Gwen’s first official single “Used To Love You” off of her forthcoming album “This Is What the Truth Feels Like” due March 18th. “Make Me Like You” is very Gwen; funky melody, throwback sound, and the poppiest of pop. I mean, if you’re going to dabble in pop music, might as well do it right. Right?

The video is cute too. A live video that was shot during a commercial break during the Grammy Awards, the video had set changes, costume changes, dancers, confetti, and the Target logo. Yeah, I get that Target paid for the video, but dang, at least use some Threshold furniture or use a bottle of up&up lotion for your elbows. Be discreet about the sponsorship in the video. But, its cute.

Troye Sivan “Youth”

This is my jam. Troye definitely has a sound that he’s creating. It’s sort of whimsical without being dumb, positive without sounding like a charity song, and cool without being cheap sounding.

Honestly, Troye reminds me of Mika. Hopefully, Troye’s sound grows as he ages. I just feel like Mika hasn’t evolved his sound. Every song Mika has sounds like it could be from his debut album.

Anyway, here is my new favorite song, “Youth.” I’ve already turned the volume all the way up and performed it in my living room, several times. I am Troye.

Adele “All I Ask” Live on Ellen

I love this song. Its the first song I instantly gravitated toward when I listened to “25.” This performance is fresh off the heels of her Grammy’s performance where there were sound issues. While this performance wasn’t flawless, its coo because guess what, Adele is a human. Weird, right?

Adele’s cinched waist is giving me heaven, while her sassy bob cut is all I ask for in a short cut. Get it?

Adele was vocally pristine. Sure, there were a few bum notes, but it added to the realness of the overly produced business that is the music business. Why aren’t artists allowed to be real? I mean, I love my overproduced pop girls, don’t get me wrong. But, I also let them have their bad days.

Question: Do you ever think about how a singer’s breath smells when they’re performing in front of hundreds, thousands, even millions of people? Think about it, what if Adele had poop breath the night she performed her televised special at Radio City Music Hall late last year? I’ll tell you what, it would be funny!
