Here we go. “Mirrors” is the second full, studio quality track that we’ve been treated to from JT’s “The 20/20 Experience” and now I am fully onboard. A funky pop, R&B tune that reflects JT and Timbaland’s signature sound. It seems that the duo has found their niche, “Mirrors,” “Cry Me A River,” and are experimenting with a few new sounds on “Suit & Tie.”
“Mirrors” has that long outro like “What Goes Around” and the beat is distinct and smooth. “The 20/20 Experience” boasts a minimalistic 10 songs which seems may be a new trend in music. Bruno Mars’ “Unorthodox Jukebox” has 10 tracks and is selling consistantly well and each track has single potential and the album isn’t filled with so much filler, if any at all. The thought that more is more was overkill. Nicki Minaj’s “Roman Reloaded” had freakin’ 22 songs. That’s way too many and you can’t really enjoy each one because there are so many. Lady Gaga did the same with “Born This Way.” The deluxe edition, which most people bought, has 17 tracks and the standard version had 14 tracks. That’s not including the bonus remixed tracks either. Slowly, music is reverting back to quality over quantity and this will definitely shine some light on who excels as an album artist and who is merely a single’s artist.
